KARST Gallery and St Peters Primary
The staff of KARST invited the Year 5 children from St Peter’s Primary School to visit their Primal Parent exhibition to experience some contemporary art and to meet their resident artists and see their workspace.
From this visit, the children then worked in their classroom on their curriculum topic of ‘The Vikings’ with help from the artists and interns from KARST.
The next stage was for the children to become curators and advise the technical manager at KARST where and how their artwork was to be displayed within the beautiful white gallery space at KARST.
The finale was the exhibition itself, the children invited their families to come along and see their work. The exhibition was a real success with the children really appreciating the process of putting on an exhibition and understanding how important it is for their individual pieces of work to fit with the other artwork in the same space.
