Enabling new and challenging learning experiences
The work we do supports and enables students to explore new and challenging learning experiences with visits to several different venues. Young people benefit from real-life experiences where they can see, hear, touch and explore the world around them.
Widening Horizons allows children to understand the importance of education and how this can influence their life outside of school. Some of the organisations we have partnered with include; Foot Anstey, City College Plymouth, KARST, Flybe, Sonardyne International, Mayflower Marina, and many more.
“EE Plymouth have been working alongside Millfield’s Inspired for a number of years now, specifically the Widening Horizons program. This involves us inviting a class room of children from local schools into the call centre to give them a tour of the building and to give them an insight into what goes in to a business like ours. We engage with the children by making the tour as interactive as possible and, of course, their favourite part of the visit is the all-inclusive breakfast they take advantage of. The children are a joy to work with and their happy, smiling faces bring nothing but positivity to everyone that crosses their path whilst they’re with us. I believe we’ve got 1 more visit left planned for this year (from 7 in total) and we’ll be looking forward to the next year when it starts all over again!”

“The experience our students gain from teaching is invaluable. Not only does it develop their skills, but it also allows them to see the social determinants of health in a way we cannot replicate on campus. We are very grateful to Millfield’s for their collaboration”
