Widening Horizons is an innovative programme developed by the Millfields Trust which is delivered to the seven local primary schools located within the Stonehouse neighbourhood of Plymouth.
The work we do supports and enables students to explore new and challenging learning experiences with visits to a number of different venues.
Young people benefit from real life experiences where they can see, hear,
touch and explore the world around them.
Widening Horizons allows children to understand the importance of education and
how this can influence their life outside of the school.
Some of the organisations we have partnered with include; Foot Anstey, City College Plymouth, KARST, Flybe, Sonardyne International, Mayflower Marina and many more.
SOME OF OUR PARTNERS
We work with a large group of partners to bring children to the workplace.
Here are some of our recent partners that have supported us.
I feel very proud to have been a part of the Widening Horizons programme, showing off the varied marine related roles available right here in Britain’s Ocean City. Hopefully the visits to the Sonardyne vessel and the other marina based operations will spark potential employment ideas for their future.Ricky Lee
We are hugely grateful to Millfields Inspired for giving our year 5s the opportunity to explore the world of work through their brilliant trips; the children have learnt so much about different careers and also about themselves. The trips provided by Millfields Inspired have been the highlight of the year and it something that all the children in KS2 look forward to.Huw Tindall-Jones
